The gallery

Every piece, unsorted.

This is the working archive — matchday graphics, starting elevens, full-time results, player posters, promotional announcements and brand marks, made mostly for football clubs across South East Queensland and increasingly for local business on the Gold Coast. Nothing here is arranged into case studies, because that is not how the work is actually used. It goes out on a Saturday afternoon between a full-time whistle and a bus trip home.

Most of what you see below came out of a template system rather than a one-off design. A club gets a set of layered Photoshop files built around its own crest, colours and type, and the people who run the account swap the names, the scores and the photographs each week. That is why the pieces sit together: the design is fixed, the content changes. It is also why a season's worth of posts can be produced by a volunteer with an hour on a Sunday night instead of a designer on a retainer.

The photography is a mix. A lot of the football images were shot by my brother, @nfsportsphotos, and edited by me. Some were supplied by the clubs themselves, which is the normal case — part of building a system is making it survive whatever photograph turns up on the night, including the ones taken on a phone from behind the fence.

What you are looking at, broadly: matchday graphics for home and away, fixtures as single games and round-ups, starting elevens with names and numbers, full-time results with scorers, player of the match with a sponsor slot, player features for signings and milestones, club announcements for trials and AGMs, juniors and metro versions of the same system, gameday promotion for canteens and raffles and memberships, premium sets for finals and rivalry matches, and general messaging — quote cards, thank-yous and sponsor shout-outs. Every one of those is a template a club can run itself.

A few pieces here are not templates at all. There are crest studies and brand marks, some done for clubs and some done for the practice of it, and a handful of one-off announcement graphics where the point was the moment rather than the system. They are in the same place because this is an archive, not a portfolio — sorting it into neat categories would suggest a tidiness that the actual week does not have.

If something here looks like what your club or business needs, start a package and tell me what you post each week. If you would rather see how the whole thing works first, the front page walks through it.
